This month we are featuring some pictures of our sweet Goats. They are Nigerian Dwarf Pygmies. There are 2 bucks, 3 6-month old billies, and 1 adult doe and 2 young does. We have discovered lately that we don’t have the experience, time OR money in the feed budget for chickens and goats right now — maybe at a later time. Newbie Homesteaders get overly ambitious sometimes and make lots of dumb mistakes. Please rescue these adorable creatures!
So with a little sadness we are preparing to rehome these cuties.
They will be vaccinated and wormed in the next week or so. We would love to find them good homes for a rehoming fee of only $50.

Exceeding our Hopes
It seems like we have been promising an abundant supply of eggs for weeks now. Finally, our newest hens are laying, we estimate at about half of their potential. We are collecting close to 4 dozen a day. We believe eventually that number will grow to 7-8 dozen a day.
I have been contacted by local Farmer’s Markets to occupy a booth to sell our eggs and produce. However, you keep responding to our emails or social media posts and are willing to stop by The Homestead. We love the personal experience. So, thank you for helping us to work towards our vision of
“Creating Community through Healthy Farm Products”
As they say “If it ain’t broke, why fix it?” So we will continue to let you know what’s available here on Shillelagh Road by newsletter or facebook.
For the freshest eggs, consider reserving a day of your choice for weekly pickups. If we know you’re coming we will have them ready for you.
Since new hens typically lay smaller eggs, we have created a new pricing range:
Small eggs - $4.00 / dozen
Medium eggs - $5.00 / dozen
Large eggs - $6.00 / dozen
Extra Large and Duck - $7.00 / dozen
The eggs are truly amazing. Every day we learn about something else we can do to bring you the freshest and highest quality of eggs possible.
You won’t find any eggs comparable in your local grocery store:
local, free range, non-GMO grain, fed fresh greens from our own garden. And we’re still coming up with new ideas to produce healthy chickens, eggs, and produce.
To say thank you for your support we are beginning a loyalty program. Next time you pick up your eggs, you will receive a loyalty punch card. After you buy 10 dozen eggs you will get one dozen free.
Together We Can Build a Healthy and Supportive Community!
OUR VISION
We are truly blessed! It is evident to us that it is time for us to “give back”.
At The Brown Family Homestead, we are proud to be a three-generation family farm.
Recently we worked together to create the following Family Mission Statement:
The Brown Family thrives on joy — in relationships, farm life, hobbies, traditions, and community.
We will seek to create or multiply that joy in the lives of others by:
* Creating friendships in our community
* Inviting people to our homestead
* Sharing fresh and nutritious food from our garden and animals
* Supporting one another as a family
* Meeting needs of others in our community
We are excited about spring! New chickens are growing in their new chicken condo. Leafy greens will be sprouting soon. We are busy around the Homestead!
Email, text, or call us, and we will get back to you soon.
